Nutrition in Mammals is a course that explores the dietary and nutritional requirements of mammals, including humans. The course covers the principles of nutrition, including the types and sources of nutrients that are essential for maintaining health and well-being. These nutrients include carbohydrates, proteins, fats, water-soluble vitamins, fat-soluble vitamins, and selected mineral salts such as calcium, iron, sodium, and potassium. The course will also cover the role of nutrition in the development and growth of mammals, as well as the effects of malnutrition on health and development. In addition, the course may also discuss the nutritional requirements of different life stages, such as infants, children, pregnant and lactating women, and the elderly. It will also cover the role of nutrition in the prevention and treatment of diseases, such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. The course is designed to fit the curriculum of the West African Examination Council and the Ghana Education Service Biology Curriculum.
